Belgrade and Serbia, specifically
- Stari Grad, Savamala, Vračar: Very fast 5G. Belgrade's numbers are ahead of Vienna's and Berlin's.
- Kalemegdan and the confluence: Covered across the fortress and along both rivers. The casemates and tunnels beneath the fortress drop out.
- New Belgrade and the blocks: Well covered - the socialist-era blocks are widely spaced and cause no shadowing.
- Novi Sad and the north: Covered along the motorway and in the towns. Fruška Gora's forest roads thin out.
- The south and the mountains: Zlatibor, Tara and the Uvac canyon are covered in the resorts and patchy in between. The Šargan Eight railway runs through tunnels with no signal.
Serbia, not the EU
The plan covers all of Serbia. Serbia is not an EU member, so EU roam-like-at-home does not apply and a European plan will bill this as international roaming - or not work.

Arriving in Belgrade
Nikola Tesla airport
Belgrade's airport has free terminal Wi-Fi and sits about 18 km west of the centre. Taxis here have a fixed-price zone system that is worth understanding before you get in one, which is easier to do online.

Frequently asked questions
Will my EU plan work in Serbia?
No. Serbia is not an EU or EEA member, so roam-like-at-home does not apply and a European SIM will either fail or bill at full international roaming rates here. There is a separate Western Balkans roaming agreement between Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo, but that is between those countries - it does nothing for an EU plan.
Where to buy a SIM card in Belgrade?
Telekom Srbija, A1 and Yettel have shops in the centre and in Ušće and Delta City. Serbia requires passport registration for a prepaid line. It is cheap once you have it.
Is Belgrade really faster than western European capitals?
On the measured figures, yes - about 315 Mbps, eleventh among cities worldwide, ahead of Vienna, Berlin and Paris. Serbia as a whole ranks 24th. It is one of the better places in Europe to work remotely on mobile data alone.
eSIM not working in Belgrade?
In the fortress tunnels or on the Šargan Eight railway, expect nothing. If you have crossed a border, remember Serbia's neighbours all need their own plans. In the city, set Ohayu as the data line, allow roaming, then toggle Airplane mode. Chat and support@ohayu.com are open 24/7.
