Can I use my eSIM while I'm on a cruise ship or in open waters?

Usually no. Cruise ships use satellite “maritime” networks, and our eSIM plans do not cover those networks. Your eSIM will work on land and often near the coast, then lose service at sea.

What to do

  • Use the ship’s Wi-Fi while at sea.
  • Turn data back on when you dock. Your eSIM should reconnect to a local carrier in port.
  • Ask your cruise line which connectivity options they offer before you sail.
