Coverage and network
Coverage city and mountains
Georgia mobile networks
Georgia punches well above its economic weight on mobile - 17th in the world at around 169 Mbps, and Tbilisi itself measures above 200 Mbps. That is faster than most of western Europe. The mountains are the constraint, not the cities.

Tbilisi, specifically
- Old Town, Rustaveli, Vera: Fast 5G. Genuinely quick - Tbilisi's median is higher than Paris or London.
- The sulphur baths district and the funicular: Covered, including up at Mtatsminda park.
- The metro: Two lines, stations covered, some tunnel sections drop briefly. Not deep enough to be a real problem.
- Kazbegi and the Georgian Military Highway: Covered in Stepantsminda and along most of the road, with gaps on the Jvari pass. The Gergeti Trinity church track above the village loses it.
- Svaneti and the high Caucasus: Mestia has service. The trekking routes above it mostly do not, and the four-day Mestia-Ushguli walk should be treated as offline.
All of Georgia
One plan covers the whole country - Tbilisi, Batumi, Kazbegi, Kakheti. Georgia is not in the EU, so this is a separate plan from any European one you may already hold.

Arriving in Tbilisi
Airport Wi-Fi at TBS
Tbilisi International runs an open network with no registration - connect and go. Most international arrivals land late at night, when the taxi negotiation outside is where you will actually want working data.

Frequently asked questions
Where to buy a SIM card in Tbilisi?
Magti and Silknet have desks in the airport arrivals hall and shops all over the city. Airport prices are reasonable by regional standards, though the desks are not always staffed for a 3am landing.
Do I need ID to buy a SIM card in Georgia?
Yes. Georgian law requires any non-citizen taking local mobile service to have it registered against their identity, so expect your passport to be scanned at the counter. The airport desks do this constantly and it takes a couple of minutes. An Ohayu plan attaches no Georgian number, so it sits outside the requirement entirely.
Is Georgian mobile data really that fast?
Yes, and it surprises people. Georgia ranks 17th globally at about 169 Mbps, with Tbilisi measuring over 200 Mbps - ahead of most western European capitals. The catch is that the ranking reflects the cities; the high Caucasus is a different story.
eSIM not working in Tbilisi?
If you have driven up towards Kazbegi, gaps on the passes are normal. In the city, the usual cause is the phone using the wrong line: select Ohayu for mobile data, allow roaming, toggle Airplane mode. Chat and support@ohayu.com are open 24/7.
