Three (3) Ireland

Three is all about flexibility, gigabytes, and targeting the digital generation. Their tariffs are often attractive because of the all-inclusive nature: unlimited calls & internet (although with a speed limit after a certain limit), and no tying to contracts for several years. Three also offers roaming outside the EU: in the USA, Australia, and Hong Kong, but these destinations are available through roaming passes with an extra charge. It’s convenient for those who travel or have friends abroad.

Three is also actively investing in the development of its 5G network, especially in large cities. But there is a caveat: in rural areas, coverage can still vary by location. This isn’t critical, but it’s worth checking the map before connecting.

3 is an operator that is popular among students, travelers, and anyone who is active on TikTok or YouTube. It focuses on a large amount of internet data. You can buy a plan for €20, which includes All You Can Eat data in Ireland, 30 GB of data for EU roaming, and 200 minutes and messages. For €25, you receive All You Can Eat data in Ireland, 37 GB of data for EU roaming, unlimited calls, 3000 messages, and 100 minutes of international calls.

Eir

Eir is one of the best Irish mobile networks. Once upon a time, it was a state-owned telecom company (Eircom) that provided home internet and telephony. But in recent years, Eir has made a major leap into mobile. They have updated almost all of their base stations, launched 5G, and can now safely compete with the “big” providers in terms of coverage and speed.

Their tariffs are simple, transparent, and without unnecessary bells and whistles. You can select a plan for €14.99 per month for the first 12 months, with unlimited 5G, no call restrictions throughout Ireland, 65 GB of data for use in Europe, and 10,000 messages within the country. The price then increases to €29.99 per month for customers without Eir broadband.
