As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, there’s an electric buzz in the air filled with energy. It’s the season we’ve all been waiting for! The biggest summer festivals 2026 are the Edinburgh Festival, Sziget, Lollapalooza, Summer Sonic, La Tomatina, Baja Beach Fest, and many more gigs I’ll mention. It’s time to treat yourself to a colorful world of music, art, culture, and out-of-this-world experiences.

Europe in the summer transforms into a vibrant stage of music, culture, and tradition, with festivals that draw travelers from all over the world. From world-famous events like Tomorrowland in Belgium and Glastonbury in the UK, to local gems such as La Tomatina in Spain and Croatia’s coastal music festivals.

Spread over August, the EIF is not a single celebration in itself. It’s a succession of numerous larger events that transform the city into an international hub for arts and culture. Reading and Leeds, with large campsites, are held over the August Bank Holiday weekend and focus on rock, indie, alternative, and heavy metal. They take place in two locations: Reading in the south and Leeds in the north of England.

BST Hyde Park – 27 June -13 July (UK)

British Summer Time Hyde Park is a series of outdoor concerts held over several weekends in London’s Hyde Park. It began in 2013 to bring major music acts and entertainment (e.g., darts championships, movie nights, children’s activities) to the famous royal park during the summer.

Wireless – 11-13 July (UK)

Wireless is a significant city concert that takes place in the first week of July in London. It features hip-hop, grime, and R&B. Wireless began as an open-air music event in 2005 but has since changed over the years.

Now, it is a place where you can see the famous rapper Drake and enjoy some delicious street food. And it is Britain’s best celebration of new urban music, making it London’s urban concert hall.

Glastonbury is one of the most popular summer music festivals in Europe. Held at Somerset Summer’s Worthy Farm, it features rock, pop, folk, and performing arts.

Glastonbury began in 1970 with 1,500 hippies and now welcomes over 200,000 attendees. Famous for its pyramid stage and mud baths. Most importantly, it strives to create a mass celebration of green culture.

All Together Now – 31 Jul – 03 Aug (Ireland)

Typically held over the August Bank Holiday in County Waterford, All Together Now is a melting pot of comedy, theater, art, food, and spoken word. It was launched in 2018 to provide a multi-generational, family-friendly festival with a focus on Irish talent alongside touring artists. Boutique atmosphere with high-profile headliners. Ideal for those looking for the buzz of Glastonbury but less crowded.

The Donauinselfest is a massive celebration held annually at the end of June on the Danube Island in Vienna. It is free to enter, and three million people attend over three days.

The event began in 1984 to provide affordable entertainment for the community. It is now one of the largest summer festivals 2025 in Europe, offering everything from rock to pop to EDM.

Tomorrowland – Jul 18 – Jul 27 (Belgium)

Typically held over two weekends in Boom, Tomorrowland is the giant of the EDM scene. It is wholly dedicated to electronic dance music, with the best international DJs and stunning stage design.

Launched in 2005, Tomorrowland now sells out in minutes around the world with more than 400,000 attendees. Its stages look like fairy tale kingdoms, and the atmosphere is pure magic. Glitter is also to be expected (lots of glitter).

This EDM gathering is held on Zrće beach on the island of Pag. Hideout started in 2011 and is all about a great experience of house and techno in a beautiful beach environment.

Guests have secondary parties (on a boat, in a swimming pool, on the beach) and after-parties next to the main event. Ideal for fans of such fests with a double helping of Mediterranean tan.

Ultra Europe – 11-13 July (Croatia)

Taking place in mid-July, this is the continent’s version of the internationally renowned Ultra Music Festival. Organized for the first time in Croatia in 2013, it was born out of the growing popularity of electronica in the country and the need for a large-scale performance in a spectacular setting.

Stadion Park Mladeži meets contemporary EDM frenzy via popular DJs Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. Where else can you rave in a UNESCO World Heritage Site?

Sziget – Aug 6-11 (Hungary)

Sziget takes place on Óbuda Island in Budapest. It is one of the biggest festivals in August in Europe. Sziget started as a small student party in 1993 to create a week-long “island of freedom” of theater, art, and culture.

For 2025, Sziget has also unveiled a provocative lineup of performers including Nelly Furtado, Empire of the Sun, Armin van Buuren, and Papa Roach.

Summer Breeze Open Air – Aug 13-16 (Germany)

Bavaria’s Metal Madness. Where leather pants meet leather jacket. Since 1997, metalheads have been flocking to Dinkelsbühl for three days of headbanging heaven.

SBOA specializes in alternative hard rock, with the bands Within Temptation, Gojira, Static-X, and others. It was intended to provide a platform for the emerging metal scene in southern Germany.

La Tomatina – 27 Aug (Spain)

This fun tomato fight happens on the last Wednesday in August in a town called Buñol, Spain. The history of this event is a bit unclear, but it started in the 1940s when locals had a food fight. Now, it is mainly for visitors and a big show! About 20,000 people join in to throw rotten tomatoes at each other.

Primavera Sound – 4-8 Jun (Spain), 12-15 Jun (Portugal)

Based in Barcelona and Porto, Primavera Sound is now a favorite of alternative, indie, and electronic crowds. It was first promoted in 2001 to bring avant-garde and cutting-edge artists to Barcelona, based on quality and diversity, as opposed to mainstream performances.

Asia summer festivals

Asia’s summer music scene is electric, with a massive Summer Sonic rocking Tokyo and Osaka in August, Jakarta Java Jazz Festival bringing global and local jazz greats in June, and World DJ Festival in Seoul turning the city into an EDM playground every June.

Japan’s largest rock and J-pop concert series takes place in Tokyo and Osaka (Tokyo gets wild, while Osaka’s slightly more chill) at the same time. Summer Sonic started in 2000 and features both Japanese artists and international headliners such as Alicia Keys, Fall Out Boy, The Prodigy, and Babymetal.

Java Jazz – 30 May – 1 Jun (Indonesia)

Jakarta transforms into Southeast Asia’s jazz capital in late May and/or early June. This annual event was first established in 2005 to bring together jazz legends and rising stars. It has since become a yearly significant celebration for jazz enthusiasts in the region. Plus, Indonesian jazz fusion is incredible.

Seoul World DJ Festival – 14-15 June (South Korea)

It is Seoul’s techno extravaganza in the heart of the city. WDJF usually happens over a weekend in June at different locations around Seoul. It started in 2007 to feature top DJs from Korea and around the world. It celebrates the growing popularity of EDM in the country and creates a lively party atmosphere.

North America summer festivals

North America’s summer festivals are all about music, food, and culture. The most prominent are Coachella and Lollapalooza in the U.S., Montreal Jazz Festival and Toronto’s Caribana in Canada.

Chicago’s hip-hop heavyweight, Summer Smash, exploded onto the scene in 2021. Three days of the hottest rap artists, both famous and new. The energy in the crowd is incredible – it’s like a mix of a Travis Scott concert and a block party.

Summerfest – Jun 19-21, Jun 26-28, Jul 3-5, 2025 (USA)

Milwaukee’s “World’s Largest Music Festival” runs for 9 days. It features a wide variety of genres, food, and activities. Launched in 1968 to energize the city’s economy, it’s now basically Wisconsin’s biggest party.

Summerfest aims to provide a diverse entertainment experience for a broad audience. Cheese curds + craft beer + lakefront stages = the most Midwest summer festivals 2025. Even if you’re not into the headliners, there’s always something happening across 13 stages.

Baja Beach Fest – 8-10 August 2025 (Mexico)

The festival started in 2018 and is usually held in Rosarito, Baja California. It focuses on Latin musical genres, especially reggaeton and trap. Rosarito Beach turns into the ultimate Latin party: Mexican beach, Pacific Ocean, reggaeton, and tacos. Plus, since it is close to San Diego, many Americans travel south for celebrations.

This jazz gathering takes place in Casablanca. Beginning a new era with an extended 10-day event, it aims to bring the best of jazz and related genres to the city. What started small in 2006 is now a cultural movement mixing jazz legends with North African influences. Get ready to enjoy performances by Black Eyed Peas, Seal, Macklemore, Seu Jorge, Kool & The Gang, and other famous artists.
