Alanya, specifically
- Cleopatra Beach and the town: Consistent coverage along the seafront and through the centre.
- The castle and the headland: Covered at the top, with the road up the rock dipping on the seaward switchbacks. The views from there are the reason people go.
- Damlataş and the sea caves: No signal inside. The caves under the headland are reached from the shore or by boat and are properly enclosed.
- Dim Çayı and the mountain valleys: The river valley restaurants inland are covered; the road further up towards the Taurus loses it.
- Boat trips round the peninsula: Coverage holds near town and drops behind the rock. The pirate-boat circuits go into the caves, where nothing reaches.

Arriving in Alanya
Gazipaşa, or the long transfer
Gazipaşa-Alanya airport is about 40 km east with free terminal Wi-Fi. Many charters land at Antalya instead, which is a two-hour coach transfer away - long enough that having your own data on the way matters.

What is the Turkish IMEI rule and does it affect me?
It affects long-stay visitors who use a local SIM. A foreign handset running a Turkish SIM for more than 120 consecutive days can have its IMEI blocked unless it is registered and the duty paid. A holiday is nowhere near that, but Alanya has a substantial community of people who stay for months, and for them it is a real cost. A roaming eSIM does not start the clock because it is not a Turkish line.
Which airport should I fly into?
Gazipaşa is much closer - 40 km against Antalya's two hours - but has far fewer routes and is often more expensive. Most charters use Antalya. Check which one your flight actually uses, because the transfer difference is most of an afternoon.
Where to buy a SIM card in Alanya?
Operator shops along Atatürk Caddesi and in the malls. Passport registration is required for a Turkish line. Prices in town are better than at either airport.
eSIM not working in Alanya?
