- Centro & the north island: Strong 5G downtown and across the developed north - Jurerê, Canasvieiras and Ingleses. This is where the digital-nomad crowd works from, and it holds up.
- Lagoa da Conceição: Well covered around the lagoon and the main strip, which gets busy in summer. Speeds dip at peak holiday times, as with any resort town.

Where to buy a SIM card in Florianópolis?
There are Vivo, Claro and TIM stores in the Beiramar and Floripa shopping centres. As a foreigner you must activate in person at an operator's own store, and CPF requests are common - see below. What documents does a Brazilian SIM need?
A passport, legally. Foreigners are entitled to register a prepaid line on a passport alone, and the widely repeated CPF requirement is not in the rules. In practice many shops insist regardless, and on the island the choice of operator stores is thinner than in São Paulo. Nothing to register on a roaming plan - it has no Brazilian number.
Is it good enough to work remotely from Floripa?
For the north island and the centre, yes - it is one of the reasons Florianópolis has become a remote-work hub, and Brazil's national speeds are among the fastest anywhere. If you plan to base yourself on the quieter south of the island, check the coverage at your specific address first, and consider the unlimited plan if you hotspot a laptop all day.
