Real São Paulo conditions
- Paulista, Jardins & Itaim: Excellent 5G through the financial and business districts. Easily good enough for a full day of video calls and hotspotting.
- Metro & CPTM: São Paulo's metro has solid coverage in stations and across most of the network, which matters when you are crossing a city this size.
- The sheer scale of it: This is a metro area of over 20 million people, and quality does vary once you get well out into the peripheral zones. The central and western districts most visitors use are consistently fast.
One eSIM, the whole country
São Paulo is just the start - this eSIM covers all of Brazil. Keep the same plan for Rio, Florianópolis, or Iguaçu.

Frequently asked questions
Where to buy a SIM card in São Paulo?
There are Vivo, Claro and TIM stores in every major shopping centre and along Avenida Paulista. As a foreigner you must activate in person at an operator's own store, and staff frequently ask for a CPF - see below for what the rules actually say. A travel eSIM like Ohayu skips the trip: install before you fly and after landing it can connect you to supported networks like Vivo, Claro or TIM.
Do I need a CPF to buy a SIM card in Brazil?
No, despite how often you will read otherwise. Under Lei nº 10.703/2003 and Anatel's prepaid rules a foreigner registers with a passport - a Brazilian CPF tax number is not what the statute requires.
The problem is the shop floor rather than the law. Anatel found that roughly 60% of operator stores had not adapted their procedures and still asked for a CPF anyway, and a foreigner has to activate in person at an operator's own store rather than a reseller. An Ohayu plan carries no Brazilian number, so none of it applies.
Does it work on the São Paulo metro?
Yes - the metro has good coverage in stations and across most of the network. Handy in a city this size, where a cross-town trip can easily take an hour underground.
Why isn't my eSIM working in São Paulo?
In an underground car park or the deepest metro sections, a drop is normal. Failing that, the fix is usually in your SIM settings: Ohayu as the data line, roaming enabled, then an Airplane mode cycle. If that does not do it, chat and support@ohayu.com are open 24/7.
