Honest about coverage
Canada mobile networks
Canada ranks 47th at 98 Mbps. British Columbia stretches that average in both directions - Vancouver and Victoria are quick, the interior highways and the island ferry routes have real gaps.

Real British Columbia conditions
- Vancouver, Victoria & Kelowna: Strong 5G across all three, plus the SkyTrain, the BC Ferries terminals, and the Okanagan wine areas around Kelowna.
- Sea-to-Sky & Whistler: Unusually good for a mountain corridor - the highway from Vancouver to Whistler keeps signal for most of the drive, and the village itself is well covered.
- The interior, the north & the coast: Expect real gaps once you are past the southwest. Highway 16, the mountain passes, the Kootenays backroads and the remote inlets and islands all have long stretches with no service from any carrier. Ferries lose signal mid-crossing on the longer routes.
One eSIM, the whole country
British Columbia is just one province - this eSIM covers all of Canada. Keep the same plan for Alberta, the Rockies, or a flight east.

Frequently asked questions
Where to buy a SIM card in British Columbia?
There are Rogers, Bell and Telus stores plus prepaid brands throughout Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna, and YVR has electronics kiosks. Selection drops sharply in the smaller interior towns. A travel eSIM like Ohayu means arriving connected: install before you fly and after landing it can connect you to supported networks like Rogers, Bell or Telus.
Is ID required for prepaid in Canada?
No. Canada has no prepaid registration law, so a shop can sell you a SIM without recording anything. Whether their activation system will accept a foreign credit card is the more likely sticking point.
Will it work on BC Ferries and in the interior?
Ferries hold signal near the terminals and on short crossings, but the longer routes to the Gulf Islands and up the coast lose it mid-crossing. In the interior, coverage follows the towns and main highways - the mountain passes, Highway 16, the Kootenays backroads and the remote coast all have real gaps from every carrier. Download offline maps for any driving beyond the southwest.
Why isn't my eSIM working in British Columbia?
On the inland highways and the ferry routes through the islands, gaps are normal. Failing that, the fix is usually in your SIM settings: Ohayu as the data line, roaming enabled, then an Airplane mode cycle. If that does not do it, chat and support@ohayu.com are open 24/7.
