Goa, specifically
- North Goa - Anjuna, Vagator, Baga: Dense coverage built for the season. December and January bring enough people that evening uploads slow along the beach strip.
- South Goa - Palolem, Agonda: Quieter and still covered. The beach shacks generally have their own Wi-Fi as well.
- Panaji and Old Goa: Solid. The churches at Old Goa are large stone interiors and weak inside, fine in the grounds.
- Dudhsagar Falls and the Ghats: The jeep track in loses signal well before you reach the falls, and the surrounding forest reserve has long gaps. Download the route.
- Scooter country: Most people get around Goa on a rented scooter and navigate by phone. Coverage along the coastal roads is reliable; the inland shortcuts between villages are less so, and the roads are not well signed.

Goa now has two airports - Dabolim in the south and Manohar at Mopa in the north - and both run the standard Indian setup where free Wi-Fi wants an OTP sent to an Indian number. Without one, it is a trip to the information desk with your passport.

Which Goa airport should I fly into?
Dabolim is closer to south Goa, Mopa to the north - and the drive between the two ends of the state is over two hours, so the choice matters. Both have the same OTP-based Wi-Fi that foreign numbers cannot use.
What paperwork does an Indian SIM need?
Passport, Indian visa and a local address, then a wait while a human checks it - foreigners do not get the instant Aadhaar verification residents use. Reckon on a few hours before the line works. An Ohayu plan attaches no Indian number, so none of it applies.
Is coverage good enough to navigate by scooter?
On the coastal roads, yes, and that is how most people get around. Inland it is patchier and the back lanes between villages are badly signed, which is a worse combination than it sounds. Cache the map area before you set off for the day.
