United States mobile networks
The US ranks 10th globally for mobile download speed at 197 Mbps. Miami draws many visitors from Latin America, where speeds vary widely - Brazil ranks 5th at 266 Mbps, while Colombia (45 Mbps, rank 82) and Venezuela (28 Mbps, rank 93) are much lower. (Speedtest by Ookla, June 2026)

Real Miami conditions
- High-rise buildings & indoor signal: Miami's concentration of glass-and-concrete towers in Brickell and Downtown can weaken indoor signal on upper floors. Stepping near a window or stepping outside typically restores strong connectivity.
- Art Basel & large events: During Art Basel, Ultra Music Festival, and other major events that draw large crowds to Miami Beach and Wynwood, network congestion can noticeably reduce data speeds. Having key information downloaded in advance helps.
- Everglades & rural south Florida: Coverage is available throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. In Everglades National Park and rural south Florida, signal may be limited or absent.
One eSIM, all of the US
Miami is just one part of the picture - this plan covers the entire United States. Whether you're continuing to New York, Orlando, or anywhere else on the mainland, the same eSIM handles it.

Frequently asked questions
Where to buy a SIM card in Miami?
As a traveler you won't find a SIM card store in the MIA international arrivals hall. Physical SIM options are on the departures level one floor up - Communitel (Concourse E, open 05:00-21:00), ICE Currency Exchange (near Door 11), and InMotion stores in Concourses D, G and H. Available brands are AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Ultra Mobile prepaid, but airport prices run $37-70 which is well above what you'd pay at a Walmart or CVS in the city. If you just need mobile data, a travel eSIM like Ohayu is the simpler choice - install it before your flight and after landing it can connect you to supported networks like T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon.
Is ID needed to buy a prepaid SIM in the US?
No - there is no federal requirement, so a card off a Walgreens shelf needs nothing but payment. A clerk may ask for a ZIP code to satisfy a form field; any valid one does. An eSIM involves no verification at all.
Why isn't my eSIM working in Miami?
In the Everglades and out on the water, coverage stops. If none of that applies, check the phone has not defaulted to your home SIM for data - switch it to Ohayu, allow roaming, restart the radio. Otherwise chat and support@ohayu.com are open 24/7.
