Alicante, specifically
- The Explanada, the old town, Postiguet: Reliable 5G across the centre and the seafront.
- Santa Bárbara castle: Covered up on the hill, which is the best vantage point in the city. The lift shaft up through the rock has no signal.
- The TRAM up the coast: The tram-train to Benidorm and Dénia holds signal along the route, with brief drops in the tunnels between coves.
- Tabarca island: An hour by boat. The island's one village is covered and the crossing loses signal in the middle - it is a small island with a few dozen permanent residents.
- The interior towards Elche and Villena: Covered in the towns and along the motorway. The Sierra de Aitana roads inland thin out.

Where to buy a SIM card in Alicante?
Operator shops along the Rambla and in the Plaza Mar 2 centre, plus an airport counter. Spanish physical SIMs are registered in store against a passport or EU ID card. With a large resident international community here, the staff are used to it.
Does coverage hold on the TRAM up the coast?
Mostly. The tram-train from Alicante to Benidorm and on to Dénia runs along the coast and through short tunnels between headlands, where it drops for a few seconds at a time. It is a slow, scenic line rather than a fast one.
Is Tabarca covered?
In the village, yes. The hour-long boat crossing loses signal in the middle, and the island is tiny - a few dozen residents out of season. Bring what you need for the day rather than planning to look things up there.
eSIM not working in Alicante?
